This term, Grade 7 students will begin their 'Design Technology' class with Mr Laidler from England, whose subject specialism is Information Technology.
They will be learning about computer hardware, but particularly software and how to use it. MicrosoftWord and PowerPoint which are commonly used in the workplace will be taught.
Today, students were using MicrosoftWord. The activities focused on developing students English language vocabulary and listening skills, familiarisation with MicrosoftWord menus and icons and their keyboard and desktop publishing skills.
In the coming months, students will continue developing their knowledge and understanding of MicrosoftWord and PowerPoint so that by the end of term they will have a good basic understanding of the features of the software and be able to use them with confidence.

今学期、中学校1年生の生徒は、イギリス出身で情報技術専門のレイドラー先生と一緒に設計技術の授業を始めます。
生徒はコンピューターのハードウェアについて、そして特にソフトウェアとその使い方について学びます。また、職場でよく使われているMicrosoftWordとPowerPointについて習います。
今日、生徒は授業でMicrosoftWordを使いました。英語の語彙とリスニング力、MicrosoftWordメニューとアイコン、キーボードに慣れること、デスクトップパブリッシング技術（デスクトップパブリッシングは卓上出版の意味で、書籍、新聞などの編集の時に行う割り付けなどの作業をコンピューター上で行い、プリンターで出力すること）の習得を重点的に取り組みます。
今後数カ月のうちに、生徒たちはMicrosoftWordとPowerPointの知識と理解を深め、学期末にはソフトウェアの基本的特徴を十分理解し、自信を持って使えるようになるでしょう。
