The 11th Annual Kurahashi Aquathon 2010

|

On July 18th, 2010 the triathlon club at AICJ took part in it's second event of the year, The 11th Annual Kurahashi Aquathon 2010. The junior high school event consisted of a 300 meter swim in the Setonai Sea followed by a 3k run along the beautiful coast in Katsuragahama.

Seventh grade students: Hikaru Hidaka, Yasushi Mitogawa, and Takumi Kawamoto challenged this course and were able to finish well. Hikaru and Yasushi finished with 2nd and 3rd place honors for junior high school boys. Hikaru finished in 27 minutes and 3 seconds with Yasushi not far behind at 27 minutes and 35 seconds.

While Hikaru and Yasushi were both very fast, Takumi was by far the strongest. He faced a much greater challenge. In order to exercise all three disciplines of triathlons, Takumi rode his bicycle over 50k from Yokogawa to Katsuragahama on Saturday, then raced and returned home by cycling another 50k on Sunday.

All in all, it was a great event where everyone that participated made congratulatory efforts. Especially our very helpful supporters Hayato Murakawa, Ms. Kusunoki, and Ms. Hayashi. Let's all wish the triathlon club members well in preparing for their next event, the Miyajima Junior Triathlon on August 29th.
